Listening to this song,
brought back memories of long ago crushes. =)
I realize that you can analyze it two ways:
- The song is meant for the guy she's crushing on
- The song is meant for herself
First option: Song meant for crush
she's telling him don't get ahead of himself, its nothing but a small crush. not that it would lead to anything more. and not that it means anything significant, so don't get big-headed and overanalyze things. he doesn't get to her as he thinks he would.
Second Option: song meant for self.
she's persuading and coaxing herself. its like she's battling within herself,telling herself that its nothing but a crush, when in fact she like the guy much more than that so much so that she envisions the two of them together in the future. the things she say that its not happening, is actually happening within herself (self-denial).
So I wonder, when I'm crushing and singing this song, am I in self-denial?
