Curfew Chaos

the one thing that hinders my social life:
CURFEW

many times have i fought with my parents on this issue
many times have i tried reasoning
only to be shot down with ridiculous excuses

if you reason with me reasonably and logically
id gladly comply
if you explain to me
i think i can understand

but if you give me out of this world excuses,
even monkeys wont believe you

i ask your permission if i can go out for drinks
and if i can take the car
instead of an answer
i go through the whole interrogation process
with a closure of a freaking ridiculous curfew of 12

i tell you to extend my curfew
you tell me no
cause its dangerous to be driving back alone

i tell you my brother follows me
you still say no cause its both of us alone only

i tell you i follow my friends
you tell me no
cause my friends would be intoxicated
even if you do say yes
you tell me to tell my friends to drop me back
earlier than when they are going back

its not fair that my younger brother
has privileges that i dont
no curfew
takes the car whenever he likes
wherever he likes
without the annoying interrogation i get

the most ridiculous part is
you even suggested to drop me and pick me
from the club
i mean, for goodness sake,
where in the world have you heard of such a humiliating idea?

okay, your reasoning behind that is
that i come back intoxicated
my reasoning is
just cause i have an earlier curfew,
it allows you to see my intoxicated state,
whereas my brother comes home at whatever bloody time he wants
and doesnt get caught

my reasoning is not who drinks or who doesnt
and of course i know not to drink and drive
but my reasoning is
dont judge something by what you only see

i reason with you the timings of clubbing
or even just for drinks for that matter
that people only start coming in at 12 and leave at around 3
but hell no
you gotta bring up those who cant even go out

you tell me not to compare myself to others
funny how
you do comparisons yourself

  1. Awwww, sayang... I have a curfew too sometimes. It depends on who I ask and when. Sometimes my mom or dad will just slap me with a curfew and I've gotta be back by a certain ridiculous time.

*hugs* I feel your pain, babe.
